La Dolce Vita

Watch: Daniel Wellington Classic Canterbury Watch
Lapel Pin: DIY
Camera: Black Instax Mini 8
Bag: eBay

I'm on a roll binge watching classics this month mostly to find inspiration particularly in style and fashion.

This week I was so inspired by La Dolce Vita! If you haven't seen the film or have no idea about it, you need to educate yourself and go watch it right away! lol!

La Dolce Vita (which literally means "The Sweet Life") is a 1960's Italian comedy-love story directed by Federico Fellini. Its a long story as it is divided with a Prologue and 7 Episodes so I'm not going to elaborate that much. But there's a few things I want to say about it. If you're looking for a beautiful classic Black and White film that is sexy, sensual, sultry, intriguing, funny with all that jazz and pizzazz, then this is a film that for you!

I loved every single scenes of this movie! The story, the characters, the music and of course the fashion! This film is a big inspirational bucket!

The look I am wearing today is loosely inspired by the film. Now I know the film is all in black in white but there's something in my head that tells me that if this was a colored film the theme and styling of the clothes would probably be composed of strong and upfront colors.

With my own touch of style and a little research on Italian Mens Fashion, I wore a nice blazer with rose colored stripes, a red checked shirt and a bowtie. For the bottoms, I just wore a simple black trousers and then went all out in color with my shoes.

If you're still not sold on this look, well here's a black in white picture just in case you're wondering! :D

I also brought my Black Instax Mini 8 paired with a white Instax bag (ebay) and pretend that I'm one of those paparazzis trying to get a shot of Sylvia. I also made a very cool DIY lapel pin just to personalize this look and make it look more me. And of course, thanks to Daniel Wellington I wore this Classic Canterbury Watch to complete this look.

Put on Your Sunday Clothes

Shirt: Zara
Pork Pie Hat: eBay
Tie: Kenneth Cole
Lapel Pin + DIY:  H&M
Watch: Daniel Wellington Classic York Watch

Yeah I know its still Saturday! But it doesn't stop me from looking my best any day of the week! Like what the lyrics sung on the song Put on Your Sunday Clothes from the musical Hello Dolly!:

"Put on your Sunday clothes when you feel down and out
Strut down the street and have your picture took
Dressed like a dream your spirits seem to turn about
That Sunday shine is a certain sign
That you feel as fine as you look!"

If you've been following me since Year 1, you guys would probably know that watching classic musical films from the 50's to the 60's is my ultimate guilty pleasure! :D

One of my favorite musicals is the 1969 movie Hello Dolly! Featuring the wonderful Barbara Streisand and the original Phantom from the Phantom of the Opera Mr. Michael Crawford.

Put on Your Sunday Clothes is my favorite act from the movie cause it typically tells you that there's a big world out there and when you're felling sad or unsure, put on your best clothes and show the world that you're confident and nothing can put you down.

Aside from the message of the song, this part of the movie showcases elegant and very classic fashion during the early years where wearing a three piece suit is your normal everyday clothes. Well, without all the technology that we enjoy these days I feel like I was born in the wrong century.

So I take that as my inspiration to pull off this look which is by far one of the most elegant and beautiful look I've done to date. I love the composition and how everything worked so well together in this look.

To achieve this classic look, I started off with the Pork Pie hat I bought online (eBay), put on a nice shirt (Zara) a vest, tweed blazer, chinos and oxford shoes. I spiced it up a bit with my DIY lapel pin (H&M) and pocket square.

Une Petit Cafe

Blazer, Shirt and Chinos: Zara
Lapel Pin + DIY: H&M
Watch: Daniel Wellington Classic Canterbury

I am so obsessed with coffee lately! Hot or cold it does not matter! It's so weird cause when I was younger I wouldn't even take a sip. But now, it has become fuel to me, my day would be weird without it.

The weather makes drinking coffee even better. I so like hanging out in our backyard sitting on a chair with a book, chocolate and coffee on the side.

But sometimes, I just want to play dress up and set up a fancy table just to have coffee. Lol!

This is a actually a tribute to my previous look in year 1.

So again, this is an updated version of my previous look... when I look thinner... :/

Now lets talk about the look. I wanted to wear a Hamptons/Parisian inspired look, again inspired by my all time fashion icon Nolan Ross from the series Revenge.

I got the shirt, blazer and chinos from Zara... ALL ON SALE! Thanks to my previous trip to Dubai Mall! Btw January is the UAE shopping festival so all stores went on sale. Wore a nice pair of white shoes and put on a bowtie and one of my DIY lapel pins (H&M). If you wanna know how I did this easy to make lapel pin, click here.

And of course, I finished this look with a Daniel Wellington Watch! I so like that it matched the entire outfit with a classic NATO strap.

Wonderland

Hat: Zara
Shirt: Fred Perry
Watch: Daniel Wellington Classic York Watch

I am very happy to announce that Lo's Closet have partnered with Daniel Wellington for the whole month of January featuring their classy and chic watches!

Lightweight, timeless, simple yet classy, those are the basic selling point that easily gets my attention whenever I purchase a new watch. When I first saw Daniel Wellington's watches on their site, I immediately fell in love with how clean and simple their watches are.

Aside from the very interesting back story, the design is perfect for the modern-classy and preppy type of men. It is very thin which means it is light and you won't feel like you're wearing it on your wrist and it does not have too many distracting features plus the size is perfect.

One more thing I like about DW watches is that you can change the straps between an iconic NATO strap or a classic Leather strap so you can easily mix and match any outfits and they're also perfect with any type of occasions.

To match Daniel Wellington's minimalistic style I wore a simple preppy inspired look. The classic ensemble of a polo shirt (Fred Perry), chinos and loafers. I added a nice outdoor hat (Zara) to spice it up a bit and make the look a bit European.

Daniel Wellington Classic York Watch. Get it here: https://www.danielwellington.com/us/classic-york
To finish it off, I wore a Rose Gold framed DW watch with a Classic York strap. BTW gold is starting to slowly and quietly go back in style again so I suggest you go treat your self with a nice and classic gold accessory.

New Year Charm + Easy Lapel Pin DIY

Tie and Lapel Pin: H&M
Sweater: Pull and Bear
Watch: Aldo Accessories

I wish you all had a wonderful Christmas!

2014 is about to say goodbye guys! Wonder if you have already planned out your New Year's party outfit.

As for me? Well I'm always dressed for any occasion. Even when I'm just going out to the mall my outfits are always on standby and ready on the go. lol!

If you already planned an outfit but you want to go a little bit further, then you might want to try this easy lapel pin DIY!

Lapel pins are slowly going back in fashion. This is a great accessory for New Year as it looks fancy and festive at the same time. Unfortunately, you can't easily find them anywhere. I originally wanted to buy them online but I find them a bit pricey and you would have to wait at least 15-30 days for delivery which is too long for just a piece of accessory so I decided to make my own!

Materials:

1. Flower Hair Clips - About 1 1/2" in diameter. I got these from H&M at the ladies section around the accessories display. You may also check other ladies accessories store just make sure you get the right size.
2. Safety pin
3. Scissors - You may also use a box cutter
4. Hot Glue
5. Ribbon (Optional)

Procedures:

1. Cut the back of to remove the hair clip and make an opening. Once open, slowly remove the hair clip out making sure you do not remove the small fabric along with the clip.

2. Place the safety pin inside the fabric and make sure its in the upright position before you insert the hot glue.

3. Seal the pin with hot glue and close the cut section of the fabric.

4. Optional: Make another seal by sticking a piece of ribbon with hot glue to make sure the cut will not open and the pin wont be easily removed. And you're done! :D

See! They're very easy to make not to mention they're also very cheap. I just got them for around less than AED5.00 a piece and it took me around 3 mins to finish one. So what are you waiting for? Make you own! -_^

Now lets talk about the look. I wanted to look like a modern day prince charming attending a masquerade ball. There's a saying in my country that it is lucky to wear polka dots print during the New Year festivities so I kinda tweaked that a bit and wore a Mickey Mouse print shirt (Pull & Bear) 'cause technically Mickey Mouse's face and ears are round. Put on a nice white shirt underneath and a Mickey Mouse print bow tie (H&M Kids Section) to match with the sweater.

Wore a pink blazer and put on my DIY lapel pin (H&M), put on nice pair of jeans, shoes, and a watch (Aldo Accessories). This masquerade look will not be complete however without my mask! I DIY-ed my own mask but unfortunately I didn't have enough time to show you guys how to do it (hopefully soon maybe).

Wish you all the best for 2015! Enjoy the New Year celebration with your family and your loved ones! <3
